As I lay here,
I remember your last words,
Their still circling after all these years,
“Dont let go of your dreams”
That’s what you said,
As you laid on your death bed,
These words inspired me,
Made me who I am today,
You made me stronger,
Before you went away,
You believed in me,
You got me inspired,
Now I’ll make you proud,
Since you’ve retired,
I’ll keep on writing,
Until my skills are impeccable,
All for you,
Because you were exceptional,
I’ll remove all my defects,
Until I’m perfect,
Again all for you,
Because you deserve it,
You have changed my life,
Made it so much better,
This is the reason,
For this poetic letter,
So when you see this,
Happiness please release,
I love you dearly,
Rest in peace.
A Poem By Corey Booth – 07/02/12 🙂
This is really good Corey, it sounds inspired though, you wanna share?
It’s a great writing style all together!
Thanks! Well done for coming 3rd in Week 1 of the poetry challenge btw! This poem didnt happen to me personally, I saw this situation on the television, so I tried to put myself into the mind of the character and came up with this! For many of my poems I do this, I completly change my mindset so its suitable for the poem im writing 🙂
I hope to see you put your own twist on the title again this week! The challenge is on ym page now!
A lovely poem Corey, nicely written. It made me think of people who have inspired me and are no longer here.
Im glad it made you think! “Last Words” is this weeks poetry challenege title so please take part the challenge is up now 🙂
I hope I got this right, here is my submission:
Famous Last Words by Gray Poet
How many times have we heard that phrase
In response to words that we know too well
They always make me smile to hear the belief
As to their outcome, only time will tell.
“I’ll never do that again” is one that I hear
And you can almost always look in their eyes
They will have that expression that is solidly fixed
But you can tell something that the body language belies.
“That is the last time he hurts me” can cause such pain
For you know that young hearts are too easily swayed
When we hear those words we want to pull them close
Knowing that when they returned again, they stayed.
“If I knew then what I know now” can be so powerful
It is hoped that by the time they say it they have hope
That what has given them the reason to utter the words
Has shown them they can survive and that now they can cope.
You might be a gray poet but your showing the young how its done! Really well written! Thanks for joining in, come back Friday for the final 3 🙂
You posted this in the wrong section, it was meant to be under the poetry challenge post but dont worry ill make sure i include it haha!
Last Words
Frenetic mutterrings cling to tendrils of dementia
Barely audible some obscure last request
Time inserting itself between sharp gasps of breath
And slow barrages of verbal machinations
Faintly ticking away, like a battery soon to expire
A failing mechanism, worn, overworked
Hanging by thread of some cosmic miracle
Overshadowed by slow orbit of whirling fan
Staring at revolving blades …. hypnotized
By almost silent efficiency of whipped air
Staring…. blades start to spin backwards
Backwards, thoughts spinning backwards
White flat-bladed oar-shaped paddles reflecting
Steady pulse of dancing shadows
Walls lacquered in refracted light
Life spinning backwards swallowing itself
Witnessed by ceiling fan above asylum’s deathbed
A poem by Randy Bell
Sorry I guess I posted my submission in wrong place also, but hope you enjoy anyway !
This is good, you’ve not only put yourself in someone else’s shoes without flaw, but also the reader. Keep it up, you’re doing fantastic! I’ll be sure to come back for more entries. 🙂
Thanks man! I try my best, I’m glad people appreciate my work 🙂
🙂 You may not have experienced this personally, but you probably will some day. It brought several people to mind who inspire me still today from beyond the grave. Angie
bravo dear!
keep it up pal!
Beautiful writing. Tugged at my heart and teared up my eyes. 🙂
Great post!
Beautifully crafted and a very moving piece. Thank you!
Last Words?
We’ve been friends
for so long.
I close my eyes
looking back.
We were nice to each other
Our friendship was strong
Then we stopped helping each other,
focused only on ourselves.
Maybe there never was
a friendship.
Taking your pictures off Picasa
Unfriending you on Facebook
Then wishing I hadn’t
How long before you notice
i wait for a text
or an email
it’s been 3 hours
who are you with
you make me so MAD!
i don’t ever want to see you again,
i’m through with this,
See you tomorrow.
This is…BEAUTIFUL. I honestly almost cried. Really great. Wow.
